Competition Rules

1. Introduction
- These rules apply to all competitions that are promoted on and run through our website, www.inspiredtostudy.org.
- To enter a competition you must complete and submit the competition entry form on our website, www.inspiredtostudy.org.
- Our competitions are completely free to enter.
2. Eligibility and entry restrictions
- To be eligible to enter a competition:
- you must be at least 18 years old;
- Had a state education in the United Kingdom or a Commonwealth country without any periods of private fee-paying education at a school or college under the age of 17;
- Completed an undergraduate university degree course and/or a post-graduate course where you were awarded a first-class or upper-Second grade for your dissertation on that course; or
- Any new professional who has overcome obstacles to qualify or practise in a profession in which they have no family connection and can show they have carried out their work with distinction and merit;
- A person of good character who has no criminal conviction in the UK or any other country;
- you must NOT be our employee of Inspired to Study Ltd, officer or agent, or an employee, officer or agent of any person or organisation involved in the running of the competition, and you must not be a family relation of any such person.
- The maximum number of entries to a competition per person is 1 in each year of the competition.
- If the competition committee decide there will be a maximum number of entries for a competition, it will be as specified on our website. Once this number of entries have been received, the competition will be closed to new entries, notwithstanding the published closing date.
3. Start and closing dates
- A competition shall open for entries at the time and on the date specified on our website, and similarly shall close to entries at the time and on the date specified on our website. Unless otherwise stated on the website, these times and dates are the relevant times and dates in London, England.
4. Judging
- The competition will be judged by a competition panel, those persons comprising the panel will be identified as the judges on our website.
- Competition entries shall be judged based on the following criteria: candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria and the competition panel believe best represents the values of Violet Reece: “Do your best, keep going and be a pioneer” together with her love and respect for all people.
- The competition panel judges will be independent of the organisers and promotors of this competition. An independent judge will be appointed to be chair of the competition panel. The full names of the panel will be available on request. The competition panel decision on the winner of the prize will be at their discretion, subject to paragraph 4.2 above and final.
- If a competition entrant does not meet the eligibility requirements or is subject to any entry restrictions, that entrant shall not be entitled to be adjudged a winner, and will not be entitled to a prize in any circumstances.
5. Winners and prizes
- Competition prizes shall be specified on our website but will normally consist of a certificate and a cash sum.
- Competition prize winners will be notified of the competition result by email and post not more than 30 days following the closing date of the competition, and will receive their prizes not more than 60 days following that closing date.
- The results of a competition will be announced on our website within 30 days following the closing date of the competition. The announcement will include the first name, surname, age, town or region of residence and prize details of the prize winner.
- The prize will include a certificate and a cash sum. The amount of the cash sum will be at the discretion of Inspired to Study Ltd and their sponsors and will be announced on our website each year.
6. Copyright and moral rights
- You warrant to us that the information you provide to us is true and accurate. That you created your competition entries, own all of the copyright in those entries, and that our use of the entries in accordance with these rules will not infringe any person’s intellectual property rights or other legal rights.
- You grant to us an exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual and irrevocable licence to copy, store, edit, distribute, transmit and publish your competition entries including your story and information on which your entry was based.
- To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you irrevocable and unconditionally waive your rights to be identified as the author of your competition entries, story or information on which your entry was based and to object to any derogatory treatment of your competition entries.
7. What happens to entries?
- Competition entries will not be returned. Please, therefore, keep a copy of your competition entries.
8. Publicity
- We may undertake publicity activities relating to competitions and prize awards. We may publish and/or arrange for the publication of prize winners’ first names, surnames, ages, towns or regions of residence and prize details. We may provide that information to third parties and our sponsors for promotional and publicity purposes. We will also require prize winners to attend promotional events relating to the competition, providing that we will pay reasonable and pre-agreed travel, subsistence and accommodation expenses incurred by prize winners attending such events.
- The prize winner will agree to provide one publicity photograph to be included on the website within 7 days of being notified of the prize. Within 3 months of the award of the prize money the prize winner will write a short blog post not less than 500 words on how they used the prize money to further their studies and or career, which will be displayed on the website, www.inspiredtostudy.org and with any associated third parties to promote the competition. In addition, the prize winner will provide one further photograph to illustrate their blog post which will include a personal photograph of the prize winner.
9. Forfeiture or failure to comply with competitions rules and conditions
Any prize winner who does not satisfy the rules and conditions set out in this document will forfeit the prize and repay any sums paid to them within 7 days of formal written notification by email or post of their failure to comply with the rules and or any of the conditions contained in this document.
